We chopped off the curls for a new summer cut.
Okay, only some of the curls, couldn’t quite do a buzz cut. But the sides and back are definitely shorter.
Welcome to the blog about Our Family. Follow our crazy life as we try to find time for working, taking care of the kids, remodeling our house, and when time affords a little bit of fun.
We chopped off the curls for a new summer cut.
Okay, only some of the curls, couldn’t quite do a buzz cut. But the sides and back are definitely shorter.
This is the week color has come into the room.
New seat covers, new drapes, and a new chandelier made for a busy weekend for myself. Here is a sneak peak of the work in progress. If I showed you a picture after the weekends work, it would reveal too much of the “finished” room.
Hopefully another couple of weeks and we can get the remaining furniture moved back into the room and have a functional and completely finished dining room.
I could go into long detail about how the morning before the zoo was a horrible ordeal. We almost did not leave for the zoo. Once on our trip we almost turned around a couple of times. But perseverance paid off, as both kids did a great job at the zoo, and even Bella who was sick seemed to be paying attention and looking around the best she could.
This was Oliver first entering the jungle and upon seeing the monkeys making excited monkey noises.
We only stayed for 3 hours, as it was enough to wear our kids out, and we needed to get on the road to head back to Kansas City. Oliver really enjoyed it, but I don’t think he quite understood what he was doing or seeing. If you ask him questions about his trip to the zoo, he doesn’t really remember or at least answer anything about it.
This weekend we were back up to Omaha for a funeral and to spend time with family. Since we were back up in Nebraska and it was a beautiful weekend, we decided to try the Henry Doorly Zoo with the kids. We have tons of pictures to show you from the day, so I will be busy putting together a post for that this week.
In the meantime…..For the first time ever, I got some successful pictures of Oliver wearing something I have made him. I thought I would show you all the pictures we took today.
We have finished the floor. Alleluia!! We even bought a new rug.
We even moved some furniture back into the room.
But we are not done yet.
This was too cute not to share. Oliver went and got the leashes out all by himself and wanted to take the dogs for a walk.
A couple things to note:
1. The neighbors haven’t mowed for 3 weeks or so, it’s getting to be a forest over there. They haven’t been living there as the sewer backed up and flooded their basement and then they were hooking up to city sewer (that fun and expensive thing we did a year ago).
2. Oliver isn’t wearing a child’s hat, he is actually wearing Jesse’s hat, and it pretty much fits him, except the bill looks a little large. Yes his head is that big!
3. The dogs did a great job letting him walk them, they heeled better for him than us. I think they knew if they pulled he would go toppling down.
Bella is teething again. So it’s the usual around here. She is a little fussy and up during the night coughing.
On Saturday we had my friend Shannon’s wedding. The reception was in an industrial type space on the 8th floor of a downtown building. It was a great time.
On Saturday morning before the wedding Jesse and Oliver ran to a garage sale to pick up a new chair and Oliver got to pick out a few items himself. Here he is modeling his new backpack all ready to go to school like Bella….except it will be a year or so for him.
Do I see the beginning of OCD? All of Oliver’s cars lined up on Mom’s shelf.
And a new favorite activity discovered by Grandma, is painting with water. This leads to hours of fun for Oliver.
