This year our home improvement projects hit first bill again, and by quite a bit. The sewer project ringing in at $16 grand had something to do with this. Medical was high again, but with the birth of Oliver and Bella’s never ending doctors appointments, it was to be expected. I was surprised by the travel amount, as we didn’t take any trips this year except back to Nebraska (I guess it really adds up when you live out of town compared to the majority of your relatives.)
Goals for this year include saving on utilities, and lowering the clothing, shoes category. I expect the baby items amount to go up, being that Oliver will be around for the full year instead of half the year. We also hope to lower our grocery bills. The first part of this goal is to clean out our cupboards. We have so much food in our pantry, deep freeze, freezer and refrigerator, we often don’t have a clue what’s in there. So for the next couple of months we are only allowed to buy milk, bread, eggs, yogurt, and produce products (and if there is a really good sale on meat we can stock up).
