21 Days Till Christmas

Today was Jesse’s day for a gift.  Since I’m sure you don’t really care to see him modeling the sweatpants I gave him, I will instead bring you a heartwarming story.

This was featured on Good Morning America. They did a back story behind it, while the video was playing. Here is a recap.

This young boy is a 7th grader with Cerebral Palsy. He wanted to wrestle. The middle school coach let him join the team and attend practice. Because he is not able to move his body, practice mainly consisted of him watching the team from his wheel chair. Then the boy wanted to actually participate in a meet.

The coach went up to the opposing team’s coach and asked if he had any player with a big heart who would be willing to wrestle with him. The opponent was then picked and given no warning or what to expect.

The young man said he recognized that this kid could not move on his own, so he had to physically get under him and pin himself down to let him win.  He says it was the best thing he could have done when he saw the smile come across his face, and that it definitely proved that winning isn’t everything.

What a very smart and wonderful young man!  It definitely brought tears to my eyes.
